Actor headshots in NYC should do more than look polished—they should show casting exactly where you fit. Your session includes ninety minutes, unlimited wardrobe changes, and a one-hour Zoom branding consultation before shoot day. You’ll be photographed and coached by Jonathan Vane, a working actor for nearly 20 years.
Starting at $695. Studio in Long Island City, one stop from Midtown.

A headshot alone won't book the role. What it does is open the door, then match the person who comes through it. Every session here is built around your brand and the roles you're most likely to book.

Jonathan knows casting, branding, and the audition process firsthand, which is why the coaching goes past posing. Your session opens with a one-hour Zoom branding consultation. We cover how you come across and the roles you’re most likely to book, then build your wardrobe and looks around it.
Sessions are structured around time instead of outfits, so you change as many times as the clock allows. Many photographers cap your looks or charge per change. That pushes actors to play it safe with wardrobe. At SoVane Photography, you don’t pay per outfit.
Get settled in where I'll offer water and coffee. And you get to meet Remy.
A steamer and lint roller are here, so wrinkles are handled before we shoot

This does not count toward your 90 minutes.
We review images throughout the session to make sure we're capturing exactly what we set out to achieve, so you leave confident in your headshots
A headshot takes away the scene, the partner, and the lines, and asks you to hold something true for a fraction of a second. Jonathan directs like a scene partner: gives you something to play, then catches you playing it.

Truly one of the best headshot sessions I’ve ever had!
Jonathan was helpful from beginning to end and offers great tips during the shoot! I would recommend him to anyone!
Working with Jon... lent itself to a certain ease of communication... He just has an intuition... and he was VERY PATIENT.
This shoot was a favorite of mine! Jon made everything so easy, and I felt so comfortable in front of the camera. I couldn’t be happier with my photo
Every image is personally retouched by Jonathan. From your first consultation to your final delivery, you'll work directly with the person who photographed you. Ensuring consistency, attention to detail, and a seamless experience
Every image from your session is delivered in high resolution, professionally color corrected, and yours to keep.
Within 24 hours of your session, your private online gallery will be ready for review. Select your favorite images, purchase additional retouches if you'd like, and easily share the gallery with friends, family, or your agent to gather feedback before making your final selections
Before your session, we'll spend up to an hour defining your casting type, selecting wardrobe, and planning looks that support your career goals.
Great headshots aren't about being photogenic—they're about authentic connection. I'll coach you through expression, posture, and subtle adjustments so you look natural and confident.
Based on your Branding Consultation, we'll have a game plan for the looks we're creating. Change outfits as many times as time allows—each one with a purpose.

That's what the Zoom consult is for. Your welcome email covers wardrobe too, and we review it again before we shoot.
Usually that comes down to a session where nobody asked who you are or what you're up for. Every session here opens with that conversation.
It depends on your brand and where you sit in the market. Bring more than you think. We'll sort it in the consult, and you won't pay per outfit.
Enough for several strong looks with time to warm up. Nobody's best frame is their first, which is why the session isn't 15 minutes.
Then it's time. Casting expects the person in the photo to walk through the door.
My process is designed to prevent the need for reshoots. Through your Branding Consultation, expression coaching, and reviewing images together during the session, we ensure we're creating exactly what you need before you leave the studio. In the rare event of a technical issue, I'll take care of it.
Life happens. Your 30% deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least 7 days before your session. If you need to reschedule, you may transfer your deposit to a new session date one time with at least 72 hours' notice. Cancellations made within 7 days or rescheduling requests made with less than 72 hours' notice will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.
